As you guys may have realised, I have a noticeable soft spot for River Island, but I guess it's not such a bad habit as I seem to discover new things everyday, just like this ensemble shown above. As were on the subject of two pieces, I might as well share with you all some celebs who have been sporting the trend lately.


Lauren London and Rosie Huntington-Whitely look amazing in their two pieces. What do you all think? On the right we have Rita Ora wearing a Vas J Morgan piece, I was in two minds when I saw the outfit but I really liked the originality of the whole look. It's not your average fitted trousers and blazer but somehow works.

I'm a big fan of Angela Simmons but this time around I am not impressed.

 The leather blazer is not complementing this suit in the best way and I think the statement chain around her neck swallows everything all up and makes everything look rather 'thrown together'. What do you guys think, let me know down below?

What do we have here? Something very fresh and different.  I stumbled across these gladiator sandal inspired Dr Martens online and to be honest, I thought they were super cool! Who ever expected Dr Martens would create a sandal out of their popular statement boot.

What do you guys think? I am loving these shoes but they are definitely a 'marmite' piece, either you love it or hate it.

At the end of each season I tend to an urge to create a whole new me and revamp my dull wardrobe, so, that means the time has come. Recently I can't seem to stop browsing and creating wish lists for spring/summer, I'm so excited but sometimes I just can't put my finger on what type of look I'm really going for. Then I ask myself, "when have you ever stuck to one particular look?" Then I answer myself, "well, you haven't and you rarely do", the thought of that answer always makes me a feel a bit better about the confusing situation.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who tends to feel rather lost in their own wardrobe, so I've come up with some interesting ways to get down to this underlying problem. If your a fashion lover you may realise how fun it can be, if you can look at blogs all day then you can definitely do this!

1. Evaluate your current style/look
 Put together some of your favourite style icons, celebrities, models, friends, anyone that inspires your style. You will be so surprised to see how much it reflects your current looks, from here you can really see what you wish to change.




From my mood board I can see that I have been drawn to darker colours this season and a simple yet edgy approach to the current trends. T-shirts, peplum shapes and ankle heeled boots.

2.Make a scrapbook/mood board - styles and trends 
Create a mood board with colours, styles and looks that you want to introduce this season. So this could be anything you have seen on blogs, online shops, absolutely anything! Just like a scrap book, simply put it all together and see what you come up with.




As you can see this board I've created is very random, it's just a snip-it of the large mood board I've created but it is just to give you all an idea on how to start one up. Some things are just pieces I like and there are also particular outfits that I want to create.
This has helped me as I have established the shades and tones that I would love to use this season, in contrast to the colours that I have been wearing, now its time to really bring out the fun that is within all of us!



Another fun way to play around with mood boards is to put together colours and prints. Above I have incorporated prints from my current wardrobe with colours that I intend to wear this season.

So get searching guys, its also fun if you have old magazines, as you can really get creative and make an actual scrapbook that you can keep and add too whenever you like.

3.Discover your key wardrobe 'Must Haves'
There are have been many occasions where I have found myself buying random items and never wearing them and it usually boils down to 3 reasons:

1.Nothing to wear it with
2.No where to wear it to
3.Saving it for an occasion that may never come

THIS NEEDS TO STOP!

I'm sure we have all fallen victim to many of the above habits but it is something that we can get out of.

So the first thing that needs to be done before we start the 'new season shopping spree' is figure out what we really need and get back to basics.

Here are a few to get you started.

Versatile footwear

So this could be anything from white pumps to a heeled sandal, something that will go with most outfits. Here are some examples:





As you can see there are many high street shops prepared and ready for the new season. The gladiator styles are back and they're taking over with a vengeance!
As you can see I've found a particular sandal which is almost identical to a sandal I used in my collage and I'm so excited about them, they really take you back in time with the overuse of studs and the number of overlapping straps.

Get to searching guys, stock up because before you know it the sun will be shining and you'll be in a right ol' pickle struggling to find something to wear.

Basic blazer or jacket

Although the sun will be shining it will not be beaming hot as we all wish it will be so we definitely will need something for the chilly days and especially nights.

Try and choose colours that you don't usually wear, experiment and have fun with it, it's a new season so why not? However, make sure to stick to a colour that you know your clothes will work well with.

Other key items include statement jewellery pieces as they can really bring a simple outfit alive, chunky necklaces and statement earrings are a few of the many.

Everyday jeans, light wash shades are good in the spring/ summer as they give off a warmer feel.
Basic white tees and blouses always work when your clueless as to what to wear on a spontaneous day out.


So there you have it, some items to get you slowly back into the game.

Trust me! When you have key items in your wardrobe things will get easier.

4. Mix and Match

So here we are, all the basics together. this is just an example of what you can do, you can see which of your items are interchangeable for the different looks you intend to create. Of course outfits just come to mind naturally but the many days when you just want to throw something on, this idea is great for that! You can play around and mix different items with pieces you see online or in magazines and just put them together.

Here is another "Get the Look". I have always been fond of leather shorts and of course Olivia has worn it gracefully, the leopard print  heels work well with ths cute ensemble. I came across a lovely pair from Topshop, the leopard print heels pictured above, definitely a key item for the wardrobe all season round.

Once again Olivia has mixed patterns to create this look, there are some lovely trousers featured on ASOS, printed trousers always look great with a bright coloured top, above you can see two different ways it can be done. If your brave enough you can always mix it up with a patterned, pointed heel just as Olivia has done.

As the mornings become darker and the nights become colder, there is only one thing that I can rely on to brighten up my day; and that is Fashion! After spending some time looking through reviews on LFW and the beautiful, innovating trends that have evolved for this season, I felt it was only right to shower you all with my discoveries.
So, lets commence. A taste of what  the rest of the world has to offer is definitely what we need here in London and the Asian inspired trend presents this.


Above is a collection by Proenza Schouler, these are pieces that I was instantly drawn to.

Its all about the detail with this trend, the oriental motifs and the structured shapes are so capturing. The fantastic symmetrical  sequences creates such an amazing look that I loving at the moment. What I particularly like is the richness of the fabric used, the patterns are so tasteful and creates the idea of 'royalty', the golds and silvers really play a part in this fabrication and I think it will be very popular this season.

The infamous T-shirt, the most easiest item to play and throw on. Its not everyday that we want to play it classy and cute, sometimes the 'cool kid' in us wants to climb out, i know my inner rock-star loves to make an appearance at times. The care-free, just threw it on look is something that can work in so many ways and i totally love it! I really became a fan of the printed t shirt and really begun to experiment with it sometime this year. The different ideas and looks are great, so i  thought it would be a great idea to put some of those together and really show you guys my inspirations.

CELEBRITY INSPIRATION

I guess its time to confess my ultimate girl crush, the one and only Rihanna who kills the style game every time! She is just one cool chick, from heels to trainers she just gets the looks right each time. Especially with her new pixie hair cut she is just screaming style. She demonstrates how a simply t shirt can make a stylish statement. Above are a few of my favourite looks, i really like how she has created two different looks with her Celine tshirt only RiRi can repeat her t and simply get away with it!
However, it is getting rather chilly so the switch up is slowly calling,  my t shirt will soon become sweat shirts and once again rihanna pulls it off effortlessly; a pair of shorts and some heels just creates a cute look.

As my love for prints grow, i like to use it for simple outfits, so here is what i wore the other night. i grabbed this cross print t shirt for £5 in Primark, in the menswear section, as you can tell that whole sentence just screams bargain! I love the fact that its so easy to play around with oversized tops and just make a simply cool look.


So heres one of my inspired looks. Rock star inspired, these sweatshirts are great to start the season with. I liked the idea of being able to switch it up with either a maxi skirt or midi skirt or even a pair of ripped shorts! The nude lipstick just softens the look and the chunky vintage chain creates an 'old school' idea to the look which i thought was interesting.

One of the best things about a new season is the exciting changes we can make to our tired wardrobes. The change of colours, the shapes, silheoutes, lengths, overalls, footwear, the list is endless! Apart from the occasional SAD syndrome, I must say I surely do love winter, the looks that can be created and the endless outfits that can be switched up by a simple change of footwear or blouse, the anticipation gives me such a buzz every time I think about it; its the power of fashion I guess, what more can I say!
Okay so enough of the chit chat lets get straight to it; Trend alert number one is the cold, Gothic Leather.
Looking forward to playing around with this invigorating texture, the shapes and the clean structure that is apparent on the catwalk is definitely a statement maker. I love how Valentino has captured the simplicity of this trend, yet he has brought forward strength in each look which I think is amazing. The visual impact is stunning and also very complementary to the trend, this has not only been portrayed by Valentino but other designers such as Versace and Dior.

Get The Look

Back again and I am positive I am here to stay, that is surely a pinky promise! Its been a roller coaster year, full of mixed emotions and a hand full of ups and downs; however one thing will always remain the same, and that is my love for fashion. My absence from this blog has been positive in some ways and negative in others but i shall not dwell on it any longer, instead my quest will carry on, and my journey in fashion will continue.

70s Back In Action!!!!
We instantly know what decade these unforgettable and easy recognisable trend is from as soon as we see it.. yes, the one and only 70s!! flares are actually a type of "bell bottom" styles which also fall in the same category include boot-cut and loon trousers. Flares were very popular for men, who often wore this style to parties known as 'discos' at the time.

From the Catwalk: Here I've found some lovely looks that have been showed off in many SS11 collections.

1) Louis Vuitton; a fantastic look, deep purple trousers combined with fun print, so mixing bold with bold

2) Then we have a trend that was really p o p u l a r last season which was denim on denim, sounds scary but is definitely one to be pulled off! Outfit by Derek Lam

3) finally we have one of my absolute favourites when it comes to flares is the jumpsuit look, this sophisticated Yves Saint Laurent jumpsuit is just gorgeous and really expresses how glamorous this casual style can become.
Block colours working so fabulously with the 70s flare trend, along with the 'whites' trend combined together loving these looks.

After the devastating Tsunami and earthquake that took place last week there have been various fundraisers and fundraising attempts to try and help and support the people of Japan as much as possible. At my university fundraisers sold Krispy Kreme doughnuts for £7.00 a box of 12 delicious doughnuts... I must say they tasted real good!!! All donations were sent to those of Japan. I remember hearing the news on that day, the next morning in my daily shower prayers I just had to thank God for my life, the people I have and the house that I'm living under, a sense of appreciation over whelmed
d me and just made me realise that no one should take life for granted, no matter the struggles that are taking place, breath is a precious thing.During this week it was so exciting to see the beautiful Salonge Knowles bring forward an idea to help Japan through fashion.

Yesterday the long awaited Culture Shock show took place, the stress, headache, panic, r u s h, runabouts, e r r o n s, pick ups.. WOWWW the list could go on forever, these feelings and the changes of moods all took place yesterday. However, i must say it was all worth it!! the turnout of the show was rather disappointing, on the other hand the show was defiantly and undoubtebly a learning curve and an enjoyable experience.

I learnt the importance of team work, the frustration that came along with trying to get things done with only a minimum amount of people showed the relevance of a strong group/team as well as organisation and, unarguably the importance of preparation. I saw so much potential in the show, with having been a part of this I really hope to develop and bring together ideas for a show such as Culture shock.

One big craze to look out for this season is BEAUTIFUL, BOLD , COLOURS. Mix and match of the finer shades of yellows, oranges and pinks should definitely be in your wardrobe this spring. I used to always be weary of experimenting with colour, i love my black, I have a little thing for black, I've always found it s e x y, however a bit of colour can never go a miss. This month the beautiful Liya Kebede featured in In Style editorial spread and it was titled 'Mad about Colour' and of course i fell in love with it! it became my inspiration for this post, which I have dedicated to COLOUR.







I was instantly drawn to this unique Gucci dress pictured on the left. I love the tassel panels on each side it creates a Safari resort feel to it and really does look gorgeous. I fell in love with the symmetrical look to it all.
On the right is a clear example of the contrast of bold colours which is very apparent throughout the SS11 collection, the clean cut blazers and detailed cut trousers are a 'watch out' for this season.


So Rihanna is one top gal that is definitely not scared to experiment with colour, and somehow it works. From her fiery RED hair to her ORANGE trousers, she really rocked it!!! Here some items that could be essential to your wardrobe this season. A bold bright blazer, would work well with some ankle cut chinos and perhaps a pair of brogues, for a sexier look a closed toe heel would work perfectly.
60's styled dress such as the one from River Island really compliments the bold bright theme to these looks, create contrasts and rock a bold dress like this with vibrant wedged heels or some large c ol o u r f u l accessories. Use that confidence and don't be scared of colour this season!!!
